Lessons and Instruction Lessons at Lawton Stables

We offer private riding lessons on Hilton Head Island, SC for all ages and levels.

Private lessons are an integral part of the services we offer at Lawton Stables.  With the completion of our new show boarding barn in 2010, we will be pleased to welcome you and show you the amenities we have to offer: a championship arena with an excellent sand/clay/rubber footing, a smaller training arena with the same footing, and a large grass training field.

All our riders must be enrolled in a series of lessons carefully designed for each rider's individual needs to advance them to the next level. Our riders show at the local, regional and/or national levels, and all riders are encouraged to participate in one of our programs.

Our talented and highly experienced staff will lead you through the stages to achieve your equestrian goals.

We participate in the Interscholastic Equestrian Association (IEA) with teams on the Middle School and High School levels.

For advanced riders, we offer a Riding Academy which consists of intense riding every day with two lessons daily, six days per week, training and instruction, as well as barn management.

Please visit our International Riding Academy website for more information.

Western riding lessons and beginning dressage lessons are also available.

Summer camps are very popular, with many locals and visitors alike finding different sporting activities for their children. Our programs offer something for everyone.

Beginners and intermediates can participate in our summer camp program, and more advanced, competitive riders join our Summer Academy Program.

Junior riders, please allow 30 minutes prior to your lesson to groom and tack your horse - see the barn manager for details.

You should be ready to ride at the appointed lesson time. Small children may require assistance from an adult.

After each lesson, the rider is responsible for grooming his or her mount, cleaning tack, and returning all equipment to its proper place.
